THE NEXT SEVEN GENERATIONS

THIRTEEN INDIGENOUS GRANDMOTHERS

Film and Discussion

Our daughter, two of our grand children and four community members attended the screening. Chuck monitored the equipment that was so lovingly created with hard work and vision. The film was introduced by Connie.  She shared the purpose of the screening and the story of the “International Council of The Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers”. She shared that the goal was to continue on the path of providing support for the message of the Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers through action and called for the healing of our families, communities and Mother Earth.

The Thirteen Indegenous Grandmothers emphasize that now is the time to take action to heal this world environmental crisis for the Next 7 Generations. Please see their web site at :http://www.grandmotherscouncil.org/

Our Granddaughter helped prepare gift blessings of sage and feathers to be handed out to our guests, a dessert was provided, as well. The three children attending engaged with the adults in the room in quiet, gentle, play. After the screening wonderful conversations continued about the work the Grandmothers.   We discussed how we might work together to overcome misunderstandings that create separation and isolation and lead to human destruction and misery. The focus of the discussion was on the importance of better communication skills to build relationships in our families and community as a starting place leading to the healing of our mother earth and each and every one of us.

The group discussed the need to continue to broaden the awareness of the message of The International Council of the Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers through larger group participation in our community.

We passed the hat and collected about $25.00 to send to the Thirteen Grandmothers.

We are grateful for the opportunity to share this message and hope to advance the goals of Thirteen Indigenous Grandmothers and the goals emerging from our small group’s discussion with a larger Skagit audience in the future.
